From Wedding To Home: My New Armoire

October 1, 2010

One of these days I will learn that I am always insanely busy on Fridays, and that I need to post something Thursday night. Here's to hoping that it really goes down like that next week so I have a timely post. So where was I today? I was buying a piece of furniture for the wedding. I have been to this store (which is a half hour away from where I live) 4 times now. I don't know what my problem is, but I just can't keep away because of all the new shipments and allllll the amazing furniture they have for sale.

I ended up walking out with a pretty good deal on a white armoire which I plan to use for the wedding. I talked about this a good 6 months ago (before I even had a venue) and finally purchased the perfect perfect item! The price tag......$200! I couldn't believe it.

This isn't the exact one, but like a dumbo, I didn't take a picture of the real one. This one is much nicer.

Ok, ready for the second most exciting part of this purchase?? Let me send out the disclaimer first that I am oddly obsessed with creating a future for myself that is not even that close to being in existence. It is weird, I know.

The inside of this armoire doesn't have any shelving or anything just yet. So, I decided that it would be the perfect little item to use as a cute closet for all the baby clothes and maybe some cute baskets! We are going to add 3 rods on the inside so we can hang those adorable tiny clothes efficiently and in the cutest way possible!

I'm excited about this duel purchase because for $200 I got an escort card and sign in space as well as a piece of perfect furniture for my nursery. Yep, today was a great day!

And now, I want to hear about your most exciting purchase?? Something that you just can't wait to show off, or some amazing deal that you want to boast about! What are you creative people doing in the purchasing department?

UPDATE: Here is my escort card armoire!

Sign-In Table?? I Think Not

July 8, 2010

I have an even better idea than just a table :) OMG, I probably couldn't be more excited right now. I had the most amazing idea just pop up, and I have to share. I don't want a sign-in table if I can think of something better and more orginal! I love the sign in table concept, and can't wait to create the space that greets the guests of the wedding. So, I found this fantastic little idea of a sign-in cabinet! Let me explain a little bit.

By now, you  probably know my love of chalkboards. Along with that, I share a love of antique keys. I decided to mix them together a bit more and came up with the best way to utilize both at the same time. I plan on having little chalkboards the size of a business card connected to antique keys. You can sort of see the concept from these photos.

I love that idea, but the problem has become how to hang them. I don't really want to have two boards with the keys hanging as I feel like it might look semi out of place. So, this idea really seems prefect because I can hang the keys from the doors of the cabinets, and in the center, I can create a really awesome display on the shelves! So unique and awesome. Not to mention the fact that I can keep the piece of furniture I find. That is always a plus!
