{Real Wedding} Ryan and Liz: Reception

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

And now for the forth and final post of this amazing day! The reception.

The sign in table was just gorgeous! Lizzie really did the details up here. Such an amazing and totally unique way for people to say hello and sign in at your wedding! And this little canvas tree idea has already been used again.

Jasmin from Wildflower Event Florals did a phenomenal job on all of the flowers. The bouquets were just stunning!

Definitely the greatest shot of a garter catch ever!

And now for the surprise of the night. The MOH and a slue of other people worked hard to create a 20 minute video with each of the BMs and GMs wishing the bride and groom well and telling stories from the past. It was hilarious and sentimental all in one. And it was the perfect little surprise for them.

This day really was perfect, and I am so honored to have been a part of it.

Liz is selling a few of the items from her wedding as well as other vintage finds on her Etsy Shop. If you love her style, you’ll love her shop!

Milk Anyone?

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

What is this obsession I am having with food products?? This is so unlike myself seeing as I am the one that would be fine having no food at all. Anyways, I guess I’ll keep the super cute ideas coming, but I hope everyone that comes to my wedding is aware of the fact that they will be gaining about 10 pounds that night with all these sugary treats! (We will just have to burn it all off with hours upon hours of dancing!)

So my new thing, Milk. I know it sounds slightly lame, but I love these cute little milk jars in ice. Plus when people are eating their cake or pies, milk is the best thing. Of course, milk and wine don’t quite mix, but even if no one drinks the milk, it will look super dooper cute sitting in tubs all around the reception! :)

Cute right??? Is this a good alternative to alcohol when eating your cake?? I kind of think so!

I Love You Chalkboards

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

Remember Chalkboards Add Instant Vintage, well I couldn’t help but continue my incredible love of chalkboards with some latest finds!

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE

Source: Caroline Tran,

I know that many of you love chalkboards just as much as I do, and really, why wouldn’t you? I mean, when you have something this chic and amazing, which on top of it all is functional, well that’s has perfect written all over it!

Now the real question is, are you actually using chalkboards as part of your wedding decor, or do you just find them fun to look at?? And if you are, gush the details, will you! Big, small, as a welcome sign, cupcake sign, centerpiece, etc.etc.etc. Let us in on your little secret!

Florals To Start Your Day Off Right

Friday, May 28th, 2010

To start out the day, I will show off a beautiful bouquet! Of course this photo by The Nichols is stunning in itself, but I’d like to focus your attention to that bouquet for just a moment. I want white, and I want pops of color! So doesn’t that seem like the perfect balance of both?

However, here is another idea that I love….and it is pretty much the exact opposite! Bright colored bouquets! I think that is going to be my main problem when planning, it’s hard to decide on just one theme! Whatever I do, those little yellow balls will be in my bouquets, I’m pretty much obsessed with those!

What are you looking at for your florals??? Anything particular that you are obsessed with??

What are you looking at for your florals??? Anything particular that you are obsessed with?? Which should I go with, white with pops or lots of bold colors?

Real Wedding by Colin Michael

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Today’s wedding comes from Colin Michael Photography. There were so many little details in this wedding and I love the way she pulled them all together. My favorite part would have to be her use of wildflowers! They are just stunning.

Everyone needs an amazingly gorgeous ring pic.

I’m loving the simple ceremony setting.

It’s hard to pick a favorite shot in this bunch, but I have to say that I am a sucker for twirling dresses, so this one might just take the cake as my favorite pic of the bunch!

Not often do we see pictures of the food, but these pieces happen to be a work of art in themselves.

There are those wildflowers I was raving about earlier! Just darling :)

Thanks again to Colin Michael Photography for this super fun wedding feature! I just love it!

Get This Look: Vintage Barn Reception

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I absolutely LOVE this reception look. To me, lighting is absolutely my favorite part to the wedding. I love how they made everything look simple and elegant with that vintage flair. The result is just beautiful!

Get This Look:

Mason Jars: 12 for $10
This look is incredibly cheap but Mason Jars really add a lot of vintage flair for a low price. Definitely a worth-while addition to any wedding.

Lights: 100 lights for $6.99
Lighting is amazing. Even something as simple as small white lights can add a lot to any space and make it look absolutely gorgeous. For a low price, you can add some big style to your wedding, lighting is so important and incredibly amazing :)

Bouqet: DIY
Darling DIY bouquet! Use these for the centerpieces, the BM bouquets, and even the bride’s bouquet. These are so stunningly simple that you might as well same some money and go for these instead!

From Wedding to Home – Wine Crates

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

I mentioned earlier this week about how I was going to reuse my wedding decor for a home makeover after the wedding! Well, here is a tip for you to do so.

Wine Crates work perfect especially for vineyard weddings. The uses are endless as you can decorate your space by  add your favors or place cards in them or standing your cake on one for an extra touch. Depending on your budget, you could use one for each centerpiece by placing your centerpiece items inside the box. Either way, there really are quite a lot of options wedding-wise!

After the wedding, these are one of the most multi-purpose items you could have. Use them to store items on high shelves which will hold a bunch of clutter, but all that will be seen is the exterior of this beautiful and rustic crate. Also use them to create shelving or as planter boxes.

Source: Apartment Therapy,

For a price tag of about $20,you have yourself a beautiful and rare addition to your wedding, then you have something which can be used constantly in your home! Enjoy!

Found this store online, but you can also check out local vineyards or supply stores!

PS: Check out the full reuseable post here and check out the past edition about Pitchers!

Creating Wow Lighting – Hanging Lanterns

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Definitely something I plan to incorporate A LOT of, hanging lanterns! I will definitely be doing a lot of those little white lights, but hanging clusters of lanterns will give it a different feel and a bit more “wow factor” to the space. And, as I showed in my previous lantern post, I already have a few, and getting more will only cost about $6 each! Not bad.

Does anyone know where to find smaller lanterns or different looking lanterns?? I am also adding lanterns to my centerpieces and I need something on the smaller side.

Deep Red Wedding – Captured by Picotte Photography

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Does Picotte Photography ever stop with the incredible candid and artistic wedding shots? Apparently not as witnessed by this incredible shoot we have for you today. She just wows me everytime with her wedding features!

The pre-shots of the bridesmaids and groomsmen are priceless. Those gardens are fantastic and quite the “photo setting”!

The deep red roses match her wedding colors perfectly without overwhelming the setting with color.

I really have no words for this incredibly amazing setting. It’s just an amazing backdrop for your wedding day!

Again, just no words. The details, the food, the colors, all very rich and very inviting. Quite the amazing reception spot.

And what a great ending to a night! Those embarrassing but priceless photos of guests that end up all over blogs…amazing!

Thanks so much to Picotte Photography for this amazing feature :)

Ps- I loved Picotte so much I used her image as my header. Amazing isn’t it?

Venue Search Part 2 – Reception

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Last week I showed off my lovely venue and talked about the big issues involved! (If you didn’t read that one you can check it out here)

After being fully upset that I would never get this venue situation figured out, I decided it was time (again) to scour the Internet for reception sites. Low and behold, I found another solution. But since all of this can’t just be simple for me, there are of course wrinkles in the plan.

The place is called Bargetto Winery and is about 5 minutes away from the Monarch Cove Inn. So as for the plan, here it goes:

Start the ceremony at 3:00pm at the Monarch Cove Inn. Right after, we would do pictures with the epic views while the rest of the wedding has a cocktail hour on the fantastic deck of the Monarch Cove Inn.

At 5:00pm the party would move to the Bargetto Winery for the reception. It is an outdoor space, with lots of greenery all around, it is a second stunning wedding spot. The downside is that the space ends at 9:00pm which is a bit early.

The second issue: the price! With two wedding spots comes two site fees. I need to work it all out but it seems slightly weird to pay double fees. Apparently the Monarch Cove Inn is that worth it to me.

I need some help! $4900 in site fees??? Am I being ridiculous?
