Dresses and Sparkles

Monday, June 7th, 2010

I check Jason and Anna’s blog on a daily/twice daily/hundred times daily basis because I am anxiously awaiting the very first pictures from Lizzie’s wedding. I have had a chance to poke around a little bit and have found SOOO many amazing shots I wanted to share, but this one is my favorite. While we wait (well you may not be, but if you were there, you would be anxiously awaiting!) for the first amazing shots of Lizzie’s wedding to surface, here is a little something to hold all of us over for right now!

Jason and Anna were pretty incredible. I can’t wait to share more about this whole event!

Hannah Suh

Friday, May 14th, 2010

Today I come to you with some exiting news of a new vendor find of mine! Hannah Suh Photography has become a featured vendor for Engaged and Inspired. I just fell in love with her work. The colors and the composition of the photos were just great. I am constantly on the look out for vendors who can really display their talents, and sometimes you come across great ones! So excited to see what she has in store this upcoming wedding season-and I am even more excited to be able to display all the prettiness on the blog!

Check out her website: hannahsuh.com and her blog.

So that we are clear, a featured vendor is someone I research for myself with the idea of booking them for my wedding. I look at all the work, the pricing and the composition of the photos. I also ensure that the vendor is a person that can really think with style and can give the bride what it is that she is looking for.

Love Print Your Party

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Some of the newest work from Print Your Party!

The major reason why I love Print Your Party is because you can get all the little paper items that you wanted, but for less money! Printing it yourself saves so much money you would be spending, and the designs as fantastic and innovative!

We used them for our engagement party and for our invitations! They were able to make them how I wanted which was really awesome! These new designs just make my head whirl with new bright ideas for my wedding parties :)

Venue Email

Friday, March 12th, 2010

I need to mention this due to how rediculous it was. This is the response I received from Ruby Hill in California to my request for prices and wedding info.

Hi Allison,

Thank you for the update. My assistant is out today and I have back-to-back meetings. I will get you this proposal before noon tomorrow.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.

What I do understand is that internal meetings and having assistance to do said work is more important to this man than supplying the potential client with some pricing info to possibly book their space for a wedding. I let that slide though it rubbed me the wrong way for sure!

I waited over a week and sent a follow up email re-requesting info, to which I was given this response a few days later:

Hi Allison,

I’m just checking in to see if you received the information you requested as we had some computer challenges over the last couple of days. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Did he not receive my other e-mail?? Now I don’t believe for a second that there were computer issues based on the timing of these two emails. People always blame it on the computer.

Wow-I was very appalled. No thank you to that venue- I already got a sense of how I would be treated as an actual client.

With the stress of having to find a venue, going all around to see these places, etc. things like this really don’t sit right with me. Now, am I over reacting????

Summer and Boyd

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

It is time to introduce our newest sponsor-and someone I am genuinely excited to have connected up with E&I!

Summer and Boyd is a northern California based wedding photographer duo. Their style of photography and their attention to catching small details is something I quickly saw in them, which made me fall in love with their work.

What I truly look for in a wedding photographer is someone who can capture those candid moments that you can’t get with poses, the feel of the entire wedding and the happiness involved and the details that make the wedding personal and unique. I was so excited when I saw the portfolio of Summer and Boyd because they show the ability they have to capture a wedding artistically as opposed to the “posed”. Finding a photographer that really gets that is not as easy as it sounds (especially in specific price ranges).

I can’t wait to show off all of their amazing work on the blog so you can all see what I am talking about with them! I an so excited for all that is to come and I want to thank Summer and Boyd for connecting up with E&I!

SnapKnot

Monday, March 8th, 2010

SnapKnot allows engaged couples to search for wedding photographers by location, budget, and preferred visual style. SnapKnot is where brides should start their search for a wedding photographer, because it allows them to narrow their search immediately to photographers they like who match their search criteria.

Unlike other wedding sites out there, SnapKnot is photo-centric, giving brides the opportunity to get a good idea of a photographer’s particular style and ability before spending time and effort going to each photographer’s website, getting pricing details, etc.

After checking out SnapKnot, I have to say I am quite relieved.  Finding a photographer within your budget and that fits your style, can be a daunting task especially when the major wedding websites showcase the same 10 photographers who have paid for the front page promotion.  I have found that those “front-pagers” are generally not in my price range. I love this site because you can search within a budget so you aren’t going through the process of contacting photographers that never have been in your budget! From there it is all about finding the style that fits with you and contacting your faves.
