{Real Wedding} Brendan and Rene by Aaron Shintaku

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Today I have a super fun wedding to show you! I swear, I have never seen so many amazing/funny faces in my life. These people really know how to have fun!

I love the Vintage-Hollywood look she is rocking too. So glamorous. I am also totally taking note, and I think you should too, of their getting-ready time. It gave me the idea that starting the day early and spending more time together getting ready will just equal more fun and more bonding time! And of course having a photographer there to capture the epic moments is always fun!

Loving the Bridesmaid and Groomsmen photo-shoots!

I want those single flowers in little votive jars. Gorgeous!

And now that the wedding is over, it’s time to party!! Check out this fun-loving crowd!

Thanks to Aaron Shintaku for this uber-fun wedding! :) Congrats to Brendan and Rene!

{Real Wedding} David and Sarah By Picotte Photography

Wednesday, July 14th, 2010

You have heard my singing my praises about Picotte Photography in past posts, and you’re bound to hear it again. I love the style and the romance she adds to her photography and this wedding is no different.

Meet David and Sarah-the use of many different types and colors of flowers is just amazing. I love how they decided to keep everything clean and classic looking by adding clear vases and lots of different whimsical flowers.

This looked like one heck of a wedding! Thanks to David and Sarah for letting me show it off here, and thanks to Picotte Photography for yet another fantastic wedding.

Thank you Picotte Photography for this amazing wedding.

Napa Style – Fresh Spring Wedding

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Oh the colors! This wedding is so fresh and bright and fun. Hannah Suh was the gorgeous photographer behind this lovely event.

I actually looked at this venue once when I was in Napa. It is a pretty spot with some of the most amazing views!

Such a gorgeous ceremony spot.

I totally love this wooden table and this whole shot. There is just something about it that feels very vintage chic. Gorgeous sign in table :)

Is that I cake or what! I haven’t seem something this big and extravagant in a long time. Let’s hope it was all eaten (or maybe they saved half of it and froze it so they can have a piece of cake the size of my whole wedding cake!) Either way, that’s impressive.

Thanks to Hannah Suh for the feature of this gorgeous Napa Valley wedding.

Part 2: Vintage Wedding in my Potential Venue!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Ok here is part two of the amazing wedding. Again, this is the venue I am planning to use so it is great to see that someone has actually done a fantastic wedding here!

Just so that everyone doesn’t think I am crazy for being majorly indecisive on this space :), here is the update. I am taking the moms to see the place on Sunday. At this point, unless they point out any insanely major issues, I am going to book it. I do have a few cons keeping me from instant love, the first being the homemade food. I actually have no doubt in my mind that it will turn out to be 100% incredible, but it is the stress of getting to that point that is really killing me. It is obviously just a lot of work.

The other major concern is that the space is just not a wedding set-up. In a way I actually really like that because I hate a lot of cookie cutter wedding venues, but at the same time it takes lots more creativity and pulling in different elements to ensure the space is how it is supposed to be. I am definitely very excited to work with the non-traditional aspect, but in times of wedding inspiration-block, I am nervous that I won’t know where to put anything! Oh my. That probably won’t be the case, but I guess it is worth freaking out about.

SOOO CUTE on the food right! Love the way they did this.

OMG! I am sooo doing milk like this..I am in love :)

One thing I love about this space is the very versatile photography spots! There are so many different places which are all totally different styles. I think that will make for some great diversity!

This is the outside of the building. Not something we would be seeing from the seating in the reception.

OK all, I could REALLY use the help and feedback! What are your thoughts? Cute, not cute, keep looking, do something in particular?? I can’t believe I might actually have a full venue booked in the next week. YAY

Vintage and Detailed Wedding (In my potential venue!)

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

I wanted to show off this wedding because it is at the venue I plan on doing mine in! :) I basically googled the venue and searched for images so I could see what other people did, how the space was set up, etc. This completely helped me decide because I could really visualize how it could actually work!

They really wanted a backyard feel to their wedding which they definitely accomplished from the DIY food, to the DIY decor. Everything was made by them from start to finish! This is pretty much what I want to do, so it’s great to see that someone else has accomplished that and gotten published! (This wedding was featured on Ruffled.)

You can’t see too many pictures of the space itself, but what do you think about it?? I would definitely love to hear thoughts, ideas of what I can do with it, etc!

Love the entrance way! I also wanted to hang lanterns which this place is literally perfect for.

Ok, that is just part 1! You can sort of see the space a little in terms of the colors, the nature, the brick etc. It’s all very pretty, and it makes it even better that this wedding is beyond gorgeous!

Dresses and Sparkles

Monday, June 7th, 2010

I check Jason and Anna’s blog on a daily/twice daily/hundred times daily basis because I am anxiously awaiting the very first pictures from Lizzie’s wedding. I have had a chance to poke around a little bit and have found SOOO many amazing shots I wanted to share, but this one is my favorite. While we wait (well you may not be, but if you were there, you would be anxiously awaiting!) for the first amazing shots of Lizzie’s wedding to surface, here is a little something to hold all of us over for right now!

Jason and Anna were pretty incredible. I can’t wait to share more about this whole event!

Real Wedding by Colin Michael

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Today’s wedding comes from Colin Michael Photography. There were so many little details in this wedding and I love the way she pulled them all together. My favorite part would have to be her use of wildflowers! They are just stunning.

Everyone needs an amazingly gorgeous ring pic.

I’m loving the simple ceremony setting.

It’s hard to pick a favorite shot in this bunch, but I have to say that I am a sucker for twirling dresses, so this one might just take the cake as my favorite pic of the bunch!

Not often do we see pictures of the food, but these pieces happen to be a work of art in themselves.

There are those wildflowers I was raving about earlier! Just darling :)

Thanks again to Colin Michael Photography for this super fun wedding feature! I just love it!

Real Wedding with Fall Colors

Monday, May 17th, 2010

Remember this amazing wedding I featured a few weeks back? Her dress just pulled me right in and I had to see more of the wedding! After talking with J Andrew, the photographer, and the bride, I am now able to show you all the rest of the wedding as well. I have included helpful tips from the bride as well!

On The Budget: I had a moderate size budget, and being that the dress was more expensive than I wanted to spend, I decided to cut my guest list down in order to save money in another area. I found cutting the guest list down was the best way to cut costs.  I also used the theknot.com‘s budgeter tool, which really helped me put things into perspective.  I am a very money conscious person, so this tool very helpful to me, and made planning a lot easier!

I think it’s a good idea for the bride to prioritize things and decide from the very beginning  what is most important to her and what she is willing to cut out of the budget. For me it was the dress.

On The Colors: I have two very creative sisters and being that I love deep fall colors, they helped me decide that a burnt orange and wine color would be amazing together and add a little uniqueness to my wedding.

My sister went to a local home improvement store and picked out paint samples. We compared different color combinations until we made the final decision on the wine and burnt orange.

Jewelry: My sister Ashley makes jewelry, SweetSouthernSorbet. She made all of the bridesmaid necklaces for me with vintage jewels and beads.  Each was unique and beautiful.  All of the girls were so excited to have a piece of her jewelry.

On The Vendors:

  • J Andrew Photography did my photography and he did an amazing job as well!  The pictures are unique and have such vibrant colors, I could not be happier!
  • Flowers: I used House of Flowers here in Bakersfield, CA, and wow, they did an amazing job.  I had a few print outs with some flowers I liked. I brought them the pictures and they just made everything so beautiful and amazing.
  • Cake : Sweet Creations Custom Cakes in Bakersfield made my delicious red velvet wedding cake!  She is very creative and makes the best tasting cakes.
  • DJ: Free Style Entertainment provided my DJ services. The DJ made a time frame schedule for the reception which helped out so much! I had some great vendors who all pulled through and far exceeded my expectations.
  • Event Planner: I did not have an event planner, but thanks so much to my Mom Phyllis, and my two sisters Ashley and Megan, I did not need one!

The Orange Extraordinaire Continues

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

I happen to have a pretty big obsession with lanterns, so these shots just made me fall in love.

The gorgeous reception details are pretty amazing. Love the food plates, birdcages, and tulips. The bride left no detail out and incorporated everything she wanted and made it all look cohesive!

Here is the major dance party I was talking about in the earlier post. I definitely want to be a part of that! They look like they are having so much fun.

Thanks again to Kristy from Volatile Photography for this lovely wedding!
