Getting to Know Eachother

Getting to Know Eachother – When we met…

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Hello Again!

I absolutely love this portion of my blog as I get to hear some incredible stories from all of you! Today’s topic: How we met! Interesting stories always come out of this question, just like those great (and all completely real) stories from When Harry Met Sally (My favorite movie!).  I am very excited to hear all the non-traditional meetings and how they have turned into the incredible journey you have had since.

My Turn: When we met, we didn’t know where it would lead.

As far back as I can remember we have known each other. When I was about 8 his sister and I were best friends and my cousin (who I am very close with) was his. The point when I really took notice of him was about 8 years ago. I was going to school in Oregon, but we spent the majority of that first summer together. That first summer was the point where I had taken notice of him and developed my “crush”. Some of my favorite memories come out of that incredible time. June 27, 2002 was our first kiss :) We spent a lot of time together thereafter.

In the years to come we led different lives, I was away at school and he had moved on. In my heart I always knew that I would marry him but that didn’t really become something until years later in 2006. I came back from school and we started dating-and that is how the new story began-which lead to where I am now, engaged to be married to this man.

Your Turn:

When we met….(fill in your blank!)

Time to let all the amazing details loose on the comments! :) When and how and everything in between!

These are a few of my Favorite Things

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Hello again! I’m am back here today (ok you’re right, I am here everyday-twice a day!) this time with more “Getting to Know Eachother“.

The topic of this week: DETAILS!

There are tons of amazing details that can be added to a wedding. I know we all have our favorite ideas that each of us will be sure to include in our wedding plans. I am going to share a few of my favorites details and I want to hear from all of you about what details are your favorite!

My Turn:

Fire-pits: Outdoor fire-pits are incredibly fun. They offer a place for guests to hang out and chat, but the space is still aesthetic.

Chandeliers: Chandeliers are completely chic and vintage and add so much glamour to the space. Just gorgeous!

Tags: I love paper products, and tags are my all time favorite! I will definitely incorperate different types of tags in each aspect of the wedding.

Keys: I love love love keys! Skeleton keys add a vintage aspect to the wedding, and using these as the place cards is a unique aspect way to incorporate details!

Your Turn:

Time for you to spill the beans! What details do you love and how are you going to incorporate these into your wedding??

PS: Get your story-telling-fingers ready for next weeks edition of Getting to Know Eachother as we will be talking about how we met! (Check out past editions: Talk about your Proposal story and let us know what your Wedding Colors are!)

Getting to Know Eachother – Wedding Colors

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Hello again!

I absolutely LOVED the comments I received from the last “Getting to Know Eachother” post. I feel like we know eachother just that much more now. I was absolutely amazed by the incredibly creative men that are with you all! I couldn’t believe some of the stories!

This week I wanted to do something simple yet totally fun! Colors are one of my favorite things. I love all the endless possibilities. I think it is incredible! So I thought it would be fun to talk wedding colors over here on the blog.

What are your colors??

My Turn! As I have alluded to in my previous wedding color post I am obsessed with white. I want to do a lot of white, cream and ivory as the base color of the wedding. But, to mix it up, I want to add some “pop”! I plan on doing this by adding lots of vibrant spring colors such as yellow, pink, orange, purple, etc. etc. and incorporate a bit of zebra print. I know it all sounds very gaudy, but I plan on only adding bit and pieces of color to still keep the class of the white background.

Your Turn! What are your wedding colors going to be??? Feel free to post links to your wedding :)

Getting to Know Eachother! – Proposals

Tina Bass Photography (Love this photo!)

Myself and two of my friends are all getting married. We are all in each other’s weddings, and we definitely spend a lot of nights sharing wedding plans and inspiration over wine. I feel like we (the wedding blog world of readers, writers, and vendors) are a close knit group of friends sharing our plans and inspiration minus the wine!  So it’s about time to get to know each other!

Each week I am going to post a new question as well as my response. Leave a comment with your story and answer (and a link to your blog or website if you have one) so we can all get to know the people behind this fabulous wedding world!

I’ll start with something easy this week (and always a fun one to tell!)

How did he propose???

My answer: December 3rd, 2010 I had a Thursday night off. I had a fashion show coming up in about a week so was in my bedroom looking over all the new clothing I had just received. We had just put up our Christmas tree (he was SO insistent that that tree was up and decorated!) and he kept calling me out to the living room. I came out there and he told me to sit in his lap. He was acting super weird and just kept staring at me. He pulled out the ring box and handed it to me. If he had a speech planned, he was too cute and nervous to say it, and frankly, it was so much for me that I don’t think I could even hear what was going on. In the flustered moment that was the proposal, I managed to say yes through the beaming smile, as I just couldn’t believe it was happening. I doubted it ever would, and it did! Then I got to open the box and I was pretty darn surprised by the ring. He picked it out all on his own, and it was exactly what I wanted! Looking into his eyes at the moment was the best thing ever.

YOUR TURN! So spill the beans, how did he propose??
