Make-Up and Your Big Day!

Friday, July 23rd, 2010

Today I thought it would be great to get some tips from a professional make-up artist to help you with the look for your big day. Tamra Marie works in the Bay Area, CA doing bridal make-up professionally. I have asked her to contribute a few tips to help all the brides out, and believe me, I have my paper and pencil out and taking notes!

Every bride wants to look her best on her wedding day but don’t stray to far from your usual look.  I’ve had minimalist makeup wearers request a red lip vintage look for their trials and had brides who normally wore heavy eyeliner ask for a natural look, but neither usually feel’s themselves when it’s done. I’m all for playing around with makeup, but your wedding day isn’t the day to do it. If you want to try a smokey eye for the first time, save it for your bachelorette party!

There are a few tips that you should really take into account on your big day to make sure you are camera-ready.

Pre-Wedding Beauty Basics:

·       Facials should be scheduled one week prior

·       Avoid using Retin-A products or any other strong skin treatments

·       Avoid salt, carbonated drinks, and alcohol. They can cause puffiness throughout your face and body.

·       Plan to get your eyebrows and body waxed at least 3 days before; Redness can be tough to cover, and some people stay slightly swollen for a couple days post-wax.

·       Drink eight to ten glasses of water for at least five days before

·       Get a massage a day or two before the big day

·       Have a long, leisurely bath the evening before, and get a good night’s sleep

I absolutely love this dress by Jesica Milton. The color, the silhouette, and the design are just prefect. This bold piece is perfect for any spring or summer wedding and will definitely compliment the bride with a great contrast of color.

Then there is the bridesmaid bouquet. You have heard me rant and rave about Rosebud Lips in the past, but I am here to do that again! This bouquet is just fantastic. It offers an all white, textured alternative to a real bouquet.

If your wedding dress has flowers or textures, which are quite the trends right now, this bouquet will tie is incredibly well. Mix it with this bold color dress, amazing.

Purchase at aspiringcouture.com! Purchase Bouquet. Purchase Dress.

Flower Necklaces

I love the idea of pearl and a big flower necklaces for all the bridesmaid. The one I am really thinking about using is the top left with the simple pearls and the light pink flowers. My bridesmaid dresses are gray, so those colors will compliment very well!

A Little Style for Your BM’s

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

I know what you are thinking, Bridesmaid?? Really?? Well, the answer is YES! I love non-traditional BM dresses and styles, and these all just really go outside the box enough to take away that stuffy cookie-cutter wedding feel of bright colored satin. Red Doll, the amazing designer of this collection, really knows her stuff when it comes to silhouette and overall design.

As long as your dress is a “wow” dress, any of these BM dresses would only compliment you as the Bride, not to mention complete the overall look of your wedding by showing a little bit of style! Let the BM’s have a little attention when it comes to their outfit, but if you have a fantastic style complete with the perfect hairpiece, shoes, and guarder belt, you will not be out-shined by your BM’s.

PS: My all time favorite of this collection, and one I would highly recommend is the top dress!

Holly Morgan

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

The word “Love” took a a whole new meaning to me when I found this designer Holly Morgan. This incredible dress would make the perfect Bridesmaid dress to compliment the vintage and romantic style of any bride. I think the color, texture and design are all phenomenal. This dress is beyond amazing, but it would compliment the Bride so well and complete the overall look of the wedding.

BM Inspiration

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

I came across this Rachel Gilbert collection recently and fell in love with it! The top pic is my all time favorite and would be my Bridesmaid dress of choice if not for the price tag. I love her use of sequins, color, and the silhouette she accentuates with her dresses. Just too cute.

Now as for the price tag, it is a bit higher than I would care to spend ($700 higher!) but I guess when your designs are seen on the likes of celebrities, you have the right to charge that much. So on I go in my search for the perfect BM dress. I will say however that this is gorgeous inspiration and something I completely plan on thinking with in my future searches!
Do you have any celebrity designers you are using for inspiration for your wedding wardrobe!

Rosebud Lips

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Fabric flowers are quite in vogue in the wedding fashion industry. But, once in a while you come across the person who takes a trend to an entirely different level! When I saw her latest creations my already extreme love for Rosebud Lips doubled (or quad-tripled!)

Introducing her newest wedding collection “Old, New, Borrowed, Blue Collection”. It is perfectly titled that because, “The lace is borrowed from a dress, the silk is blue, the antique brooch is old, and the silk is brand new. Four in one.”

And what innovative idea is part of that collection??? The Rosebud Lips version of a guarder belt! This is by far the best one I have ever seen :)

And to match?? Just add this darling bouquet!

The Rosebud Lips wedding collection is available now on the Bridal Boutique!

Also, take a look at her Bio, she really does have an inspiring story!
