Swoon-Worthy Stationery
February 24, 2012
I can’t believe it’s already time to start thinking about invitations! When Dan and I got engaged {last February}, our 17 month engagement felt like an eternity. It is crazy to think that we are now merely 5 short months away from becoming husband and wife!
Invitations are one of those places that I feel okay cutting costs. In all honesty, people will eventually just throw them in the garbage. Still, I love all things pretty and I am convinced that I can find something beautiful without breaking the bank. As with all of my other decisions, there are a couple of directions I am toying with.

And of course, the more traditional option…

Programs
I’ve also been thinking a lot about programs for the ceremony. I know they are not necessary, but I always think its nice for your guests to have something to flip through while they wait.
*What do you think? Are programs necessary? What is one place you are choosing to cut costs?

I LOVE stationary and while I knew that was a place we should save money at our wedding, I was not willing to have cheap adn ugly invitiation :) We ordered ours from wedding paper divas and they were wonderful and let me customize SO much, even things they didn’t advertise they could change, they could, and did once I asked, so you can really get a nice invite inexpensively and still customize.
I will also say that we did programs and I still have half of them in a box in my closet, almost no one took them. I had ours printed and then I attached a ribbon at the top myself to save on some costs. They came out really nice and professional looking, but no one took them. I think they are nice to have, but definitely don’t over order if you do, and I would definitely go the least expensive route you can here, because other than your mom and grandmother, no one will keep them.
Happy shopping!
i love all things paper, and went with semi-custom invites by @hellolucky and they are amazing! i too started about 5 months before the wedding, and it just took about a month to get everything right, so good to get things rolling early! i quickly realized digital printing was seriously $1,000 less than letterpress, but just want to be careful that they don’t look like cheap:) however, on that note, i totally agree with stephanie on the programs, which i will printing myself at kinkos! good luck!
if you enter your costco membership # on weddingpaperdivas.com, you get 20% off the entire order (you can’t use it with another sale also though) and free shipping. We got our save the dates printed with them, and also got 5 wedding invite samples free. You should order the sample to see how the paper and sizing is. Also beware of added postage for odd sized invites
