Damsel In A Dress

I have a confession to make: I have never been one of those girls that has dreamt about the details of my wedding day ever since I was little. Sure, some thoughts have crossed my mind over the years but I never had a clear picture or plan for the big day (of course this changed after meeting my lovely fiancé). I definitely did not have a clue about the dress!
When it came time to start looking, I wasnt sure about what style I wanted (I just knew what I didn’t want). I think I was hoping for a big ”Say Yes to the Dress” moment. However, at the end of every appointment I left saying ”Okay, if I don’t find anything better at the next store, this is the one.” Well, I always found something I liked better at the next store! As time was running out for me to make a decision, I ended up choosing a dress that was so completely different than anything I envisioned myself wearing. I’d be lying if I said that I feel completely at ease with my choice…I am hoping that when I have my first fitting in March I’ll feel some of that magic I was expecting after watching so many shows! Has this ever happened to anyone else? Did you have any regrets or second thoughts after saying yes to your dress?
Since we’re on the topic, here are some of the dresses I thought could have been ”the one.” Enjoy!
(personal photos by me)
PS: You may have noticed a guy standing in the mirror in some of my pics…yep, that’s my fiancé! He attended all but one of my dress appointments…have I mentioned that we’re a little untraditional? ;)

I definitely had an ‘ah ha!” moment when I found my dress, but there weren’t tears or anything – I think Say Yes to the Dress has kind of built the moment up so you feel disappointed if there aren’t tears. But I definitely knew it was my dress when I put it on. I started to have doubts a few months before my dress came in, but the second I had it back on I knew this was it. So, I bet you’ll feel the same in March! I think it’s cute that your fiancé went with you :)

They were all so beautiful it was so hard for me to decide too! But I think the one you picked is perfect! :)

Thanks Kate! I’m happy to hear that you also had some doubts…and even happier to hear that they were erased when you tried it on again :) I’ve been spending the last few days ”cheating” on my dress by looking at other dresses online…I’ve even entertained the idea of going to try on more dresses! Bad girl, I know ;)

I found dress shopping really tough! In the end, you go with your gut … but you do look incredible in all of them!

I totally had the same feelings as you. Looking back I just wanted it to be like the shows and it never really was. I liked my dress a lot on the day, it is what it is, my pics look great, but maybe I’m just not one of those girls?
